Túl Parndorf-on, de még Bécsen is, van egy csodálatos apátság a Duna mentén: Melk. Az autópályán számos tábla mutatja, merre érdemes egy néhány órás kitérőt tenni.
Német, angol nyelvű vezetéssel kb. másfél-két órás program az apátság megtekintése. A barokk épületben rendkívül modern kiállítást rendeztek be, mely után a könyvtárba (ott sajnos nem lehetett fotózni) és a csodás barokk templomba léphetünk be.
Ezt követően "szabad program" keretében nézhetjük meg a gyönyörűen rendben tartott barokk kertet, a kis nyári lakkal, a kerti tóval és az elmélkedésre alkalmas kacskaringós utakkal. Az apátság ma is működő egyházi központ, de egy középfokú oktatási intézménynek is helyet ad.

Melk abbey is situated near the Danube, 31 miles from Wien. There are many signs along to the road the direction, for a two-hours trip to the beautiful abbey.
You can take a tour with an english guide, too. There is a really modern exhibition in the baroque abbey. You can visit the library (photography is prohibited here) and the magnificent baroque temple.
You can see the baroque garden with the little summer house, little lake and curvy roads, which are suitable for meditation. Abbey is a religious centre, and there is a secondary school, too.
